Topographical survey, environmental survey, permitting, site planning, site engineering, plans and specification assembly and preparation, bidding procedures, contract and construction administration and construction design were all performed by Ernst, Ernst & Lissenden for the 18 hole executive golf course.
Environmental constraints throughout the site required careful planning and wetlands mapping. Wetlands areas, covering nearly 40 percent of the tract, were protected from construction and incorporated into the overall site design. The course winds its way through sensitive areas.
The Metedeconk River, source of drinking water for Brick Township, flows through the Forge Pond area. Special modifications of the fairway grading were required to prevent surface runoff from spilling into this acquifer.
Three large ponds were designed and excavated to provide water for irrigation and soil fill for greens and tees. The ponds also offer challenging hazards and visual interest to the course. Ernst, Ernst & Lissenden designed a groundwater well supply system for these ponds, including a clay liner to provide impoundment in the sandy soils.
Ernst, Ernst & Lissenden, which was directly responsible for the appearance of the golf course, selected and preserved a wide variety of specimen trees. Large American hollies were preserved along the fringe areas.
